EXIAS Medical is a leading provider in the field of in-vitro diagnostics (IVD) and aims to set new standards through innovative technologies and high product quality. In 2023, as part of the further development of its electrolyte analyzer, the company was looking for a modern, user-friendly and durable HMI solution that would meet the requirements of both point-of-care and laboratory operations.

The e|1 Analyzer

The plan was to replace the existing product generation of the EXIAS e|1 Analyzer with a new model. The aim was to further increase precision and reliability while also ensuring intuitive operation and a maintenance-free measuring system for end users. In addition, the market demanded a compact, hygienic and durable solution with a lifespan of at least 15 years.

A focus on durability and reliability

The technical implementation of the e|1 Analyzer had to meet these requirements. A user-friendly HMI solution with a 7-inch touch display and a special glass front should not only enable intuitive operation, but also meet the strict hygiene requirements in a medical environment. To integrate the analyzer flexibly into a hospital or laboratory environment, several interfaces were required. In addition, the device had to support easy connection to various USB WLAN dongles and a thermal printer. Another key aspect was durability and reliability, in order to ensure 24/7 operation.

Converting challenges into solutions

EXIAS Medical was looking for fast and competent support in developing their new HMI solution and turned to Ginzinger electronic systems. The decision was made based on Ginzinger's many years of experience in the field of embedded Linux and the proven GELin platform, which has been successfully in use for over 15 years. Together, a customized solution for the e|1 Analyzer was developed.
The focus was on combining the powerful GELin platform with customized hardware that meets the highest standards of functionality, ease of use and reliability.
