Afternoon Seminar: Radio Technologies, EMC, Cybersecurity & Barbecue
Challenges, Solutions, Best Practices: Spend an afternoon gaining practical insights into wireless technologies, cybersecurity, and EMC for modern embedded systems. Following the technical presentations, we cordially invite you to join us for a barbecue
Together with our partners Würth Elektronik, LIMES Security, and Wilhelm Consulting, we invite you to a concise afternoon seminar in Weng im Innkreis on September 10, 2026.
Look forward to practical technical presentations, concrete application examples, and valuable insights from day-to-day development work, and take this opportunity to exchange ideas with experts.
Embedded Systems & Wireless Connectivity: From Technology to Mass-Produced Product
Speaker: Mario Salhofer, MSc, Customer Consulting & Partner Management at Ginzinger electronic systems
To kick things off, Ginzinger electronic systems will provide insight into current developments and address key practical questions: What requirements do companies place on modern embedded systems today? What are the biggest challenges in implementing wireless technologies? And how does a complex wireless technology make its way from development through certification to long-term mass production?
The focus is on wireless connectivity: Which wireless technology is suitable for which application? What requirements arise in terms of integration, security, power consumption, and long-term availability? Using practical examples, we’ll show what matters even in the concept phase.
Wireless Technology in My Application—Which Technology Is Right for My Product?
Speaker: David Hofer, Business Development Manager for Wireless Connectivity & Sensors (Austria & Switzerland) at Würth Elektronik
Wireless connectivity offers numerous possibilities—at the same time, the variety of wireless standards and integration options is constantly growing. The presentation will begin by introducing the key fundamentals of various wireless technologies and protocols. It will then examine the differences between wireless modules and chip solutions, their integration into embedded systems, and requirements related to certification and product development. The presentation provides valuable guidance for selecting the right wireless solution.
A Pragmatic Approach to Integration Testing of Wireless Components
Speaker: DI Johann Wilhelm, Managing Director of Wilhelm Consulting
When integrating wireless components, the development work does not end with successful commissioning. Existing tests, certificates, and regulatory requirements play a decisive role, at the latest during the conformity assessment of the overall product. This presentation will explain the most important normative foundations and, using practical examples from the EMC test lab, demonstrate how integration tests can be carried out efficiently and effectively. You will learn,
- what typical pitfalls arise during radio and EMC testing,
- how these can be avoided early on, and
- what practical solutions facilitate the path to successful product approval.
As the operator of an EMC lab with its own anechoic chamber in Wels, Johann Wilhelm has been supporting companies for many years with pre-compliance measurements as well as EMC and radio frequency issues. Through his active participation in international standards committees, he is also familiar with the regulatory requirements of the future and provides valuable insights for future-proof product development.
Tracking the Tractors - How Threat Analyses Make Cyber Risks Visible
Speaker: Philipp Wandl, Product & Solution Security Specialist at Limes Security
Good intentions don’t always lead to good results. Using a real-life security incident (“Tracking the Tractors”) as an example, Philipp Wandl demonstrates which security vulnerabilities can arise as early as the product design phase and what consequences they can have.
The presentation explains how such risks can be identified early on through a threat analysis—a central component of the Cyber Resilience Act (CRA). You’ll learn what measures can be derived from this analysis, how secure products are developed from the outset, and how companies can prepare for the requirements of the CRA.
Networking & Barbecue
Following the technical presentations, we cordially invite you to join us for a barbecue. Take advantage of the relaxed atmosphere to chat with the speakers and other developers, discuss questions, and make new connections.
